Back to Business Chic in 2024 | A StyleVision™️
“Office siren” this, “office siren” that. It’s time we have a little chat about Saturn’s influence on our style this year
One thing’s for certain, I’m a cozy girl through and through. Give me all the fuzzy robes, loungewear, Uggs and Skims ( yes, I said it!). Even before covid, my style philosophy has always been cozy in the house, pero pull a look outside. I refuse to wear matching spandex sets outside ( unless for coffee/Target/Homegoods run) and I’ll stand on that ‘till the death of me. This stemmed from going to all girl private school for 4 years. Surprisingly, I loved wearing a uniform Monday-Friday ( I still stayed dripping in jewels), but getting dressed on the weekends was so special. I take pride in my “outside” outfits.
With that said, “outside” ‘fits are taking a turn, I know you’ve peeped! As I write this, I cringe getting flashbacks of tweed vests and stacked pumps in the club. Why were so young dressing sooo old.. with no job to even go to? Please, make it make sense.
Anyways. The dolls are calling it “office siren”, but I think that trend is a branch from a bigger tree. “Office siren” invokes the striking beauty of the 90’s paired with a professional twist. Despite how we try to shape it, there’s a sense of desirability attached to this trend. Wanting to appear sexy without doing the most. I view it as style foreplay— when you hike up the skirt and throw on a pair of bayonetta glasses.
Aside from the obvious ( returning back to the office post covid) there’s an overarching spiritual theme influencing the return to business casual on the streets + on the runway. I’m not here to report what’s trending. You’re here because you want to know why, so let’s explore.
Saturn: The Planetary Ruler of 2024
The year 2024 is a numerological year 8 ( 2+0+2+4 = 8).
Each number vibrates on its own frequency; 8 representing wealth + overall material abundance, expansion, reward, karma, strength, and the balance of the material and spiritual realms ( like the infinity sign). The planetary ruler of the number 8 is Saturn. Think of Saturn as the father of all the planets, associated with rules, formalities, lessons, structure, time. Saturn keeps us on point + holds us accountable for our actions. This is why the collective tends to experience life-changing events and soul-stirring lessons around the time of our Saturn returns ( approx every 29.5 years). The medicine of Saturn comes with pushing us to do the work that’s required for our growth, challenge us to level up + maybe even get our hands dirty so we value hard work in the process. The primary astrological ruler of Saturn is Capricorn, though it’s also connected to Aquarius.
Think about all of the Capricorns you know, IRL + even fictionally. Now, what do they all seem to have in common? Securing bags + standing on business! Capricorns’ connection to Saturn not only puts their work ethic on another level, but they value investing the time required to get the job done. I’m sure they’d love a shortcut, but they know that efficiency can only be done by crossing all their t’s and dotting their i’s. People whose natal charts are ruled by Saturn often experience success later on in their life because building financial security and long-lasting wealth takes time. There will be a stronger since of discipline + commitment to our work. The mottos:
“As above, so below”
“What goes around comes around”
With Saturn also ruling justice and the concept of karma, peoples actions are catching up to them, even after ( re: Diddy) decades. Where attention goes, energy flows.. and our attention is laser-focused on our work, career path and divine purpose. What we water will grow!
2024’s Saturnian energy pivots our focus to investing our time and energy into creating security for ourselves + families, nurturing our skills, mastering our crafts, harvesting everything we’ve grown. This directly impacts the way we dress because we’re returning to a more formal way of dressing that suits professional standards. You’ll probably feel that pull to spend less coins on cozy wear and more coins on pieces that are appropriate to transition in + out of professional environments, even in remote positions. The honeys are going corporate!
